Thomas “Tommy” Bloodworth
Memorial services for Thomas “Tommy” Bloodworth, of Messer, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 24, 2024 at Hugo Lake Cabin 13. Thomas passed away Aug. 12, 2024, at the age of 74.
Thomas “Tommy” Wayne Bloodworth was born on Oct. 10, 1949 in Hugo, Okla., the son of Bill Bloodworth and Carolyn (Palmer) Bloodworth. He was preceded in death by his parents; Bill and Carolyn Bloodworth; brother, Billy Dale Bloodworth; and sisters: Barbara Bloodworth and Janie Bloodworth.
Tommy was a lifelong resident of Hugo and graduated from Hugo High School in 1967. Soon after graduating high school, Tommy joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country proudly for two tours during the Vietnam War where he was a highly decorated soldier. He was very proud of the medals and awards he received during his service to our country. After his honorable discharge from the military, he returned to Hugo and worked for Weyerhaeuser for nine years, then later for the US Postal Service as a post man for 12 years. He married the love of his life, Brenda Bryum, on Sept. 5, 1994 in DeQueen, Ark., and together they made their home in Hugo. Tommy was an avid outdoors man. He loved to hunt, trap and fish in his younger days. He was also a rock hunter and loved to walk along the lake looking for treasures to take home. Tommy had a larger than life personality and touched many lives through his ability to make those around him feel his joy. He was a fun and loving man who made many lifelong friends throughout his life. Tommy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Brenda Bloodworth; sons: Jason Bloodworth and Jeff Gatlin; daughter, Misty Hampton; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; two nieces, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
Bro. Mike Bryant will officiate the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
