USDA expands local foods in school meals through cooperative agreement with Oklahoma

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced it has signed a cooperative agreement with Oklahoma for more than $3 million to increase their purchase of nutritious, local foods for school meal programs.

Funds available to veterans, young farmers

OKLAHOMA CITY –– Oklahoma veterans and young farmers (45 years of age or younger) can apply for grants up to $10,000 through the Agriculture Enhancement and Diversification Program. Additionally, veterans and young farmers can apply for 0% interest loans if their application exceeds $10,000.
Deadline approaching for disaster loans for property damage due to severe storms, tornadoes

Garfield of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West reminded Oklahoma businesses and residents of the Jan. 17, 2023, deadline to apply for an SBA federal disaster loan for property damage caused by the severe storms and tornadoes that began Nov. 4, 2022.

Absentee ballot applications available for 2023 elections

Voters interested in voting by absentee ballot for any of the elections during the 2023 election year may request absentee ballots now using the State Election Board’s OK Voter Portal at oklahoma. gov/elections/ovp or download and print an application from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/ elections. Applications are also available at the Choctaw County Election Board. Signed applications may be hand delivered, emailed, faxed, or mailed to the County Election Board.
