OKLAHOMA CITY –– The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) is shifting focus from its current system of COVID-19 case investigation, to a self-serve approach where the public can quickly receive test results via text, and conduct their own case investigations and contact tracing through an online portal.

This year’s open enrollment period for the online Healthcare Marketplace began Monday, Nov. 1 and Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma (LASO) has trained insurance Navigators across the state ready to help Oklahomans weigh their options. Open enrollment, which lasts through May 15, allows new enrollments as well as changes to existing coverage.

The Oklahoma Independent Stockgrowers Association will hold their Fourth Annual Convention from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at the Frisco Center, Clinton, Okla. The keynote speaker will be Bill Bullard, CEO, R CALF, Billings, Montana. The cattle industry is in a significant state of change with many cattleman experiencing financial stress. R CALF (Ranchers Cattlemen Action Legal Fund) has been providing national leadership supported by Independent Stockgrowers Associations in almost every state. Mr. Bullard said, “Our only hope is to formulate new federal legislation and to use the courts to fight collusion and corruption within the cattle industry.” R CALF has filed several lawsuits Last week, a federal court in Minnesota denied a motion by the nation’s four largest meat packers to dismiss an antitrust lawsuit filed by R CALF alleging price fixing.

Tai Chi for better balance classes coming to Hugo

The Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative (OHAI), KEDDO Area Agency on Aging and Rural Health Projects are collaborating to provide the Tai Chi for Better Balance program. The classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m. beginning Nov. 2 through Dec. 16, 2021 at the Choctaw County Public Library, located at 703 E. Jackson St. in Hugo.
