ANTLERS — The Hugo Buffaloes lost a close game to Antlers Friday night, falling 30-20 to the Bearcats. A win over undefeated Antlers would’ve given Hugo a big boost heading into the playoffs, but the Buffs couldn’t pull it out.

OKLAHOMA CITY –– The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) encourages all Oklahomans to get the flu shot as soon as they are able this flu season. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states COVID-19 vaccines may be administered without regard to timing of other vaccines, meaning the flu shot and COVID vaccine can be safely co-administered the same day.

The flu is back. Following record lows of influenza last year thanks to COVID-19 precautions, the flu is again circulating in Oklahoma and the U.S. Only time will tell how severe the season will be. Still, experts at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation advise starting your defense with a good offense.

• Imported onions identified as a food source of fast-growing outbreak in 37 states OKLAHOMA CITY –– The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) last week reported that 98 people in Oklahoma have confirmed Salmonella Oranienburg infections, the second highest number of infections of the 37 states currently impacted by a fastgrowing outbreak. Salmonella infection is a common bacterial disease that affects the intestinal tract.

Rep. Frank Lucas (OK-03) has signed on as an original cosponsor of the Cattle Contract Library Act of 2021 (H.R. 5609). The bipartisan bill would direct the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agriculture Marketing Service (AMS) to establish a contract library for cattle producers.

Oklahomans for Responsible Water Policy will have its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at Donald W. Reynolds Public Library in Durant, featuring the Choctaw Natural Resources Teams: Tye baker and Ethan Schuth, Sec. of Energy & Environment Ken Wagner, emcee Sen. David Bullard and Choctaw Nation Chief Garry Batton. The speakers will address sound water management for the future.
