Pruett’s Food Store is scheduled to open Dec. 9, so employees and contractors are working in overdrive to get things completed. It is reported that the Hugo location would have more than 25,000 items and online shopping, along with an exceptional produce department, meat counter, seafood counter, bakery, deli and even a selection of sushi. The new Pruett’s Food Store will include 23,000 square feet, located next to First Bank on East Kirk St.

Carol Ayers honored as Oklahoma Indian Elder

DURANT –– Choctaw Nation tribal member Carol Ayers was among 41 Native American elders virtually recognized at the 12th annual AARP Oklahoma Indian Elder Honors. Each honoree received a celebration box including their 2020 AARP Oklahoma Indian Elder Honors medallion, program, a gift card and a sweetgrass braid.

Fort Towson to host Christmas at the Fort

FORT TOWSON –– Fort Towson Historic Site will host Christmas at the Fort on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. Visitors to the site, which was originally established in 1824, will celebrate the season with a riding tour of the grounds ending at the Sutler’s Store with coffee, cocoa, treats and photos with Santa.

Following the presidential declaration of the National State of Emergency, in response to COVID-19, the Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority (CNHSA) initiated a COVID-19 Response Team that has worked in high gear.
