BUFF PARKER FIELD — There’s a buzz in the air out at Gene Nesbit Stadium on Hugo’s north side as new head football Coach Scott Schier works at a frenzied pace on a million details to get the field house, equipment and assistant coaches all calibrated to take the 2025 Hugo Buffaloes to the football playoffs. Coach Schier was selected by the Hugo Board of Education earlier this year to assume the Head Coach’s position as previous Coach Krystopher Gross resigned to accept a coaching position elsewhere.

PUBLIC CHECK IN The Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission adopted new rules in 2025 that require anyone accessing certain Oklahoma public hunting and fishing areas to check in and out of the statemanaged area. By checking in and out of these areas, hunters, anglers, birdwatchers, hikers and any other users can help the Wildlife Department better understand how the area is being used.

Teen motocross racer Jace Williams, 17, of Chandler, Okla., has officially qualified for the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Waverly, Tenn., the most prestigious amateur motocross event in the United States. The race runs July 28 to Aug. 2, 2025, and features only 42 riders per class, selected from thousands of hopefuls across the country.

Schier named HHS Head Football Coach

Veteran football coach Scott Schier has been named by the Hugo Board of Education to be the head football coach for the Hugo Buffaloes for the 2025-26 football season. Schier has more than 20 years of coaching experience and is also the head Hugo Buffalo Baseball Coach, in which capacity he will continue into the 2026 baseball season.

Schier will be announcing early-season practices and other team meetings in the next few weeks.
