Buffaloes lose tough battle with Eufaula

Body
Friday night, Gene Nesbit Stadium looked like it had come straight out of a movie. On and off rain throughout the day washed away part of the midfield logo, the grass was saturated and coming out in large clumps, and smoke from the grill on the visitor’s side rolled across the field creating an atmospheric haze.
HUGO’S ADEN PARISH bulls his way through the Eufaula Ironhead defensive line and stiff-arms another defender out of his way while running the football for an eight-yard gain for the Hugo Buffaloes. The Buffaloes were unable to have much success against the potent Ironhead defensive line, and managed only 74 yards rushing the football with all but a few yards of that total coming on a big opening drive keeper by quarterback Landon Lemmons. Buffaloes shut-out Atoka, 14-0!

Body
ATOKA — With the final seconds of Friday’s game winding down, Atoka’s quarterback threw the ball toward the middle of the field — a last ditch effort to get the Wampus Cats on the board for homecoming. Waiting to leap into the air and secure that pass was Hugo’s Aden Parish, who sealed the Buffaloes’ victory to the sound of cheers from the visitors section.
THE HUGO BUFFALO DEFENSE stepped up big time Friday in Atoka, shutting out the Wampus Cats on their home turf and giving Hugo its first District football win of the season. Above, G’Mariyon Wallace, Caleb Allen, Caleb Joe, Carlos King and Hunter Sims swarm an Atoka ball carrier for no gain. The Buffalo D will be tested on Buff Parker Field this Friday when Hugo hosts Eufaula in another District game. Hugo News Photo / Bobby Hamill
