Calvin Self, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, left us on July 22, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on Sept. 25, 1926 in Boswell, Okla., Calvin’s life was one characterized by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep-seated generosity that touched the hearts of all who knew him. Growing up in a bustling household amid the fields and farm life in Oklahoma, Calvin learned the value of diligence and family solidarity. He often reminisced about his humble beginnings where some simple hickory nuts and a hammer sufficed for a school lunch. His resilient spirit was forged during these early years, and it remained with him throughout his life.
