The 50-state finish line

Connie (Campo) Schaef, a Boswell High School alumni, recently completed running a half-marathon in all 50 states, ending her journey in Juneau, Alaska.

Schaef made the decision in 2020 to complete the challenge with her running buddy Penny Schmeidler, while doing the Dopey Challenge in Florida. Schaef completed her very first half-marathon in 2016 at the Prairie Fire in Wichita, Kan.

She has run in all types of weather, and on various venues including pavement and trail runs. She states her husband, Jeff, also a graduate of Boswell High, and family have cheered her on throughout her journey. “I cannot thank my family enough for putting up with me over the last six years,” Schaef said.
