Local ladies to compete to win John Ritter Tribute showcase

The Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage, Texas, recently announced its top 30 finalists for the John Ritter Tribute Showcase — and two Hugo residents made the cut.

Maddie Dawn Gatlin and Kristy Billy will compete for the 2025-2026 title and a $1,000 plus prize package, on Aug. 8 at the Carthage Civic Center.
