Georgia E. Boykin
Georgia E. Boykin, age 89, of Oklahoma City, Okla., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024. She was born in Lone Wolf, Okla., on Sept. 3, 1935 to Dewey and Birdie (Wright) Riley. She married the love of her life, Garland Boykin, in 1951, and they were together until his passing in 2017. They had four children together.
Georgia worked for many years as a Librarian Assistant for the Oklahoma City Public Schools. She attended the Grand Boulevard Assembly of God Church/Friendship Chapel, and through her church involvement, she was the Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade Coordinator, the Women’s Missionary Council Leader for 30 years, and was also a Christ Ambassador Leader. Georgia also was a Girl Scout Leader for 30 years, and a school crossing guard for 12 years.
Georgia was an excellent seamstress, and also loved all arts and crafts, and was a doll maker. She also was an amazing cook and baker. She loved to give away her orphaned dolls with new handmade clothes. She loved blessing others. Georgia will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Garland Boykin; her parents, Dewey and Birdie Riley; her daughter, Adena (Penny) Stephens; brothers: Carl Riley, W.O. Riley, and Austin Riley; sisters: Lena Mae Riley, Verna Rose Riley, Maddie Riley, Molly Riley, and Bonnie Riley; son-in-law, John Muzingo; and daughter-in-law, Donna Boykin.
She is survived by her three children: Geania Muzingo of Oklahoma City, Harland Boykin and wife, Rebecca of Atoka, Okla., and Thomas Boykin and wife, Linda of Sapulpa, Okla.; son-in-law, Kevin Stephens; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; bonus son, Greg Lehman; close friends: Robert and Linda Lively; Pastors: Tom Holder and Bill Rackley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A graveside service was held on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024 at Soper Cemetery, Soper, under the direction of Sunny Lane Funeral Home.
