Hubert William Barker

Graveside services for Hubert William Barker, of Boswell, Okla., were held Sept. 18, 2026 at Restland Cemetery. Hubert passed away Sept. 15, 2026, at the age of 86.

Hubert William Barker was born on April 7, 1940 in Boswell, Okla., the son of William Hubert Barker and Flora Belle (Hedges) Barker. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Jean “Dean” Barker; grandchildren: David Shumake and Zachary Pebsworth; daughter-in-law, Chris Shumake and sister, Iva Jo Parsons.

Hubert was a lifelong resident of Boswell, and a graduate of Boswell High School, Class of 1958. He married his beloved wife, Doris Jean “Dean” Pinkerton on Sept. 16, 1968 in Paris, Texas. Hubert was the owner and operator of Hub Construction. He believed in hard work and proved it by his work ethic and leadership. Hubert had a fantastic memory and was a man of his word and believed that everyone else should be as well. He was a rancher at heart and loved good cattle. Above all things, Hubert was a family man who loved his family and the Lord. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Hubert is survived by his sons: Mike Shumake of Moore, Okla., Robert Shumake of Boswell, Hubert Wayne Barker and wife, Ann of Durant, Okla., and Jeff Barker of Boswell; daughters: Sandra Shumake of Paris, Texas, and Sharon Barker of Boswell; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his special golden child, Britany Belvin and husband, Garrett; special great-grandson, Homer Barker; niece, Tina Nielson; nephew, Charles Parsons, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends, family and loved ones. Bro. Johnny Corgill officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
