Family memorial services for Joseph Griggs were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 13, 2020 at Rattan Landing in Rattan, Okla. Joseph passed away Oct. 8, 2020, at the age of 65.

Joseph Griggs was born on April 11, 1955 in Pasco, Wash., to Dale E. Griggs and Hazel B. (Chadrick) Griggs. He married the love of his life, Doris Ann (Womack) on Aug. 27, 1987 in Wellston, Okla. She preceded him in death and he never recovered from the loss of Doris and would call her phone just to hear her voicemail. Joseph was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jerry Coats, Ricky Wheeler, Bobby Wheeler, Roy Don Wheeler and John Griggs; also his sisters: Trevea Oliver and Wanda Myers.

Joseph worked for Knight Transportation for more than 20 years as a long-haul truck driver. He drove many miles with his little dog, “Chaos.” Joe loved to travel but he preferred the West Coast and especially loved the mountains in Washington State. He would spend hours telling stories of all his travels. Joe loved to ride his motorcycle but gave it up so that he would be safe for his children. He loved his family beyond measure and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joseph is survived by his son, Jason Womack and wife of Chandler, Okla.; daughter, Sabrina Williams Ford; brothers: Harley Wheeler of Ocela, Fla., James Griggs of Wellston, Okla.; sisters: Dee Terry of Kizer, Ore., Arlessia Kennell of Chickasaw, Okla., Lora Sue Brown of Chickasha, Okla., Joyce Crawford of Rattan, Peggy Landreth of Antlers, Okla., and Martha Hinsley of Spencerville, Okla.; five grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many other family, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Spencerville Cemetery with Bro. Luther Roden officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
