Mark Seigel Terry
Mark Seigel Terry, of Fort Smith, Ark., was born on Dec. 16, 1960 in Coffeyville, Kan., to Jack Terry and Coleen Seigel Terry. He passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025 in Hugo, Okla., at the age of 64.
Mark is survived by his mother, Martha Terry of Fort Smith, Ark.; his son, Jake Terry and wife of Yanush, Okla.; his daughter, Katelyn Niemann and husband of Cecil, Ark.; his beloved grandchildren; his companion; an uncle, along with a host of other family members, friends, and loved ones who will cherish his memory.
A graduate of Van Buren High School, Class of 1979, Mark spent much of his life in Crawford County, Ark. His love of rodeo shaped his early years, and he was a proud member of the PRCA, IPRA, and the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Rodeo Team. In 1979, Mark was crowned the National High School Bull Riding Champion, as well as the Arkansas High School Champion in Bull Riding, Bareback Riding, and All-Around Cowboy.
In 1979 Mark also won the Arkansas Rodeo Association Finals Bull Riding Championship. That same year, his father, Jack Terry, won the Arkansas Rodeo Association Bull Riding Championship, a memory treasured by Mark and his family. Beyond his rodeo accomplishments, Mark had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors working with cattle or horses, and sharing those passions with loved ones. Mark was known for his toughness and strong spirit. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as “Pappy.” To them, and to many others, he will forever be loved and remembered.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Jack Terry; mother, Coleen Seigel Terry; and sister, Denise Franklin.
A memorial service was held Sept. 13, 2025, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
