Martha Jo (Robinson) Arbuckle
Martha Jo (Robinson) Arbuckle, age 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 22, 2024. She passed away peacefully at her home in Conroe, Texas, surrounded by family.
Martha was born in Boswell, Okla., on June 14, 1938. She was the daughter of Joseph Herman “Babe” Robinson and Belva (Payte) Robinson.
A woman of unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ, Martha was the steady, loving and guiding presence in the lives of her immediate and extended family.
After her senior year at Boswell High, Martha attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant before moving to Dallas, Texas, for a work opportunity. It was there that her friend John Clay introduced Martha to her future husband. For 65 years, Martha shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Loren Arbuckle.
While work opportunities took them first to Houston, then to many cities in Europe, Martha and Loren returned to their home in Conroe to build their life and raise their three children.
Martha’s creativity was evident throughout her home. She was a skilled interior decorator, and her home was always beautifully appointed. She loved to paint, and her paintings adorn her home and those of many of her friends and family. She loved to cook for her family and her sorority friends on holidays and special occasions and everyone always wanted seconds. No matter what she did she poured her whole heart into it. She was a living example of Christ’s love to her husband and children, but also to her friends and all who met her. Martha served her church and the Conroe community through countless outreach and charitable endeavors. She especially loved serving alongside her great friends, Sue Hughes, Marilynne Smith and her numerous sorority sisters. Martha was preceded in death by her parents: Babe and Belva Robinson; and her brothers: John and James Robinson and sister, Helen (Robinson) Pitts.
She is survived by her husband, Loren; their children: John (LaDona) Arbuckle of Siloam Springs, Ark., Jim Arbuckle of Splendora, Texas, and Susanne Zimmer of Conroe, Texas; and four grandchildren: Nick Arbuckle, Luke Arbuckle, Mark Arbuckle and Sam Zimmer.
Arrangements are under the direction of Browns Funeral Service.
