Graveside services for Micheal Warren Lewis, of Valliant, Okla., were held at 1 p.m. Oct. 29, 2024 at Pettit Cemetery in Park Hill, Okla. Micheal passed away Oct. 23, 2024, at the age of 85.
Micheal Warren Lewis was born on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 1939 in Muskogee, Okla., the son of Harold Lewis and Ruth (Russell) Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joanne Nixon.
Micheal was a resident of Valliant. He grew up in a small two-bedroom, one bathroom house and shared a bedroom with his older sister, Joanne. He worked at a young age at his uncle’s cafe. Micheal graduated from Muskogee High School in 1957 and joined the United States Marines shortly after. He was honorably discharged in 1960. During his time in the service, on his free weekends, he cooked at his uncle’s cafe.
Micheal was a devout Christian with a deep love for God and keeping God’s law. He had always loved various types of music and later in life he met his beloved wife, Lillian, and together they pursued ballroom dance lessons. At this time, he lived in Hackett, Ark., and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring from there in 2001. Micheal and Lillian were married on Oct. 24, 2001 in Hot Springs, Ark., and later moved to Temple, Texas, where they made their home of 20 years.
Lillian’s daughter, Michelle, and brother, Duane, wanted them to move closer to them in case they needed help and during this time, Michael worked for Renzenberger, which was a company that provided transportation for the railroad men to and from their hotels and trains. Micheal was also very artistic, keeping his home immaculate and decorated very nicely, which was a nice surprise for Lillian. Micheal and Lillian were very well matched, having the same interests and values in many things. They both loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel abroad many times. In 2020, they decided it was time to get out of Dodge and stayed with Lillian’s brother, Duane for a year while they waited for the perfect home to come along, they then settled in Valliant. After moving to Valliant, Micheal prided himself on the upkeep of the 3.5 acre property, mowing, landscaping, gardening and planting numerous trees. Micheal was a humble man and always had a clear mind. He will be deeply missed by family and loved ones.
Micheal is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Lillian Nash-Lewis of the home; daughters: Tami Toby and husband, Sheri Agostini and husband and Michelle Hash and husband; son, Jared Lewis; four grandchildren, and a special cousin, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
Carlos De La Cruz officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
