Tonya Kay Diggs

Funeral services for Tonya Kay Diggs, of Hugo, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 18, 2025 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Tonya passed away Dec. 15, 2025, at the age of 64.

Tonya Kay (Newton) Diggs was born on March 1, 1961, the daughter of Burl Dean Newton and Betty (Cody) Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Tracy Newton.

Tonya attended grade school in Fort Towson and received her LPN degree from Vo-Tech in Hugo at the age of 22. She had a servant’s heart and displayed her kindness and compassion through the many years she worked in various nursing homes in McCurtain and Choctaw County. Tonya retired at the age of 55 and enjoyed spending time fishing with her beloved husband, Jimmy. She also loved listening to music by Elvis and tending to her flower garden. Tonya especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Tonya is survived by her husband, Jimmy Diggs of the home; son, Eric Diggs of Antlers, Okla.; daughter, Monica Diggs of Hugo; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, David Jones and wife of Moore, Okla., along with a host of family, friends and loved ones.

Interment will follow the service at Springs Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Dempsey Greer officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
