I am writing a baseball memoir entitled, “Missing the Cutoff Man: A 50-year baseball odyssey” and only a few days ago I wrote the following about Junior Satterfield, who passed away this week. - Floyd “Junior” Satterfield was one of the greatest baseball players to ever come from Hugo. Floyd Satterfield’s mother was a full blood American Indian from the Choctaw tribe. Being from Oklahoma where every kid learns about the great Jim Thorpe, I recall being convinced that he had to be related to one of the greatest athletes in U.S. history.
