Viola Mae VanWorth, passed away July 10, 2025, in Hugo, Okla., at the age of 93. Born on June 5, 1932, in Coalgate, Okla., Viola’s life was a testament to her selfless, kind, and friendly nature that touched the lives of all who knew her.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Andrew Bowlin, a beloved father, stepfather, and papa, who finished his earthly life July 6, 2025, in Hugo, Okla., at the age of 91. Born on Dec. 3, 1933, in Tulsa, Okla., to Andrew Jackson Bowlin and Mildred Pauline (Cox) Bowlin, and he lived a life filled with love, resilience, and adventure.

Joe Ray Shaw was born on June 24, 1955 in Paris, Texas, to Raymond “Fat” and Vivian Shaw. From a very young age, Joe Ray, as he was most often referred to in his youth, spent a great deal of time around the sale barns with his dad and uncle, Wren Shaw. Wren was a livestock auctioneer, so Joe grew up learning the language of an auctioneer.

Wanda Louise (Anderson) Lewis, of Hugo, Okla., went to her heavenly home on June 28, 2025, passing peacefully at her home in Hugo, Okla., surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 71. Wanda was born on March 29, 1954 in Martinez, Calif., the daughter of Richard Anderson and Ruthie Mae (Alexander) Anderson.

Funeral services for Larry Dee Landreth were held Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Hugo First Baptist Church. Larry Dee Landreth, 88, passed away on June 30, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Larry L. Prillwitz, 81, of Lake Placid, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, June 23, 2025. Larry was born on May 27, 1944, to Henry and Carol Prillwitz. He was of the Baptist faith. Larry was born and raised in Michigan where his love of farming fruit and vegetables began. Larry was a self-taught learner who was able to operate any piece of farm machinery and even learned how to fly small planes. He and his family moved to Hugo, Okla., in 1979 where he begin a successful career as a large crane operator in the construction industry. After leaving construction, Larry had many enjoyable years as a business owner of a pecan and trucking company, then later as an owner of a general country store and nursery along with a storage building business. Larry enjoyed time with his family and especially tried to see his grandsons often. Larry and his wife loved traveling the country and had many fun adventures together. Their final adventure took them back to a childhood town in Lake Placid, Fla., where they lived out his final days enjoying a peaceful life.

Darlene Rogers, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at the age of 89, in Boswell, Okla. Born on Feb. 11, 1936 in the small community of Bower, Okla., she was the daughter of Clarence Pearce and Emily Hamlin Pearce. Darlene lived a life rich in love, community and faith, and her legacy will resonate for generations to come.

Graveside services for Pat Byron Brewer, of Spencerville, Okla., will be at 10 a.m. July 3, 2025 at Spencerville Cemetery.

Billy Don Moyers, former White House press secretary who became one of television’s most honored journalists, passed away June 26, 2025 in Manhattan, at the age of 91. Billy was born on June 5, 1934 in Hugo, Okla., the son of John Henry Moyers, a laborer, and Ruby Johnson Moyers. He was reared in Marshall, Texas.

Bobby Steve Burrage, age 72, of Antlers, Okla., passed away June 8, 2025 in Plano, Texas. He was born on Monday, July 7, 1952 to Bill and Mattie Lou (Rowland) Burrage in Durant, Okla.
