After a few frustrating losses the past few weeks, the Hugo Buffaloes bounced back with a solid 49-39 win over Silo Friday night. Hugo’s biggest struggle of the season has been slow starts, which have often caused the Buffs to have to battle back in the second half of games.

If it hadn’t been for the second quarter, the Lady Buffaloes may have left Silo with a win Friday night. Hugo came out strong against the Rebels, putting up 13 points in the first quarter and hitting two three-pointers that helped them take a four-point lead.

Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso will coach the USA women’s softball team in the 2028 Olympic games, the University announced Monday. The Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, but the softball events will be in Oklahoma City at Devon Park, which hosts the NCAA Women’s College World Series.

VALLIANT — The Lady Buffaloes beat Valliant, 57-42 Friday night in a game that saw contributions from the entire team. Nine of 11 players scored, and everyone got involved on defense, something Coach LaSha Cook said was a goal going into the game.

Local golfer James Barnett is making a name and climbing the ranks in the Ultimate Long Drive league. According to ULD vice-president of operations Kevin Porter, Barnett is currently ranked first in the Valor series for the league’s military and first responders. He is currently third in the open men’s division and second in the 35+ men’s division. Barnett finished top eight in his first year in ULD at the World Championship in the 35+ men’s division.

VALLIANT — When the Buffaloes walked into the locker room in Valliant Friday night there were just nine points on the board. It was halftime, and the score was unthinkable.
