Known for his high-scoring offenses and witty comments during and after big basketball games, former OU basketball coach Billy Tubbs has passed away at the age of 85. Many remember him being hired on April Fool’s Day in 1980 and others will never forget the sports pundits calling his style of coaching “Billy Ball.” “My goals are to reach the Final Four and then the Final Two and then be the Final One,” Tubbs said the day he was hired.

HUGO — The Hugo Buffaloes claimed their second Black and Blue Bowl trophy in as many years Friday at Gene Nesbit Stadium in one for the record books… a 35-34 OT thriller. The Antlers Bearcats lived up to their pre-game billing, bringing the top-two rushing backs in 2A-6 onto Buff Parker Field as well as three of the top-10 tacklers in the district.

Buffaloes find their offensive mojo, slam Wilburton 48-0

HUGO — The Hugo Buffaloes found the critically important passing game that had eluded them for the previous four weeks and slammed the Wilburton Diggers 48-0 Friday at Gene Nesbit Stadium, putting a big, sweet cherry on top of their 2020 Football Homecoming.
