Carol Sue Hinton
Carol Sue Hinton, a beacon of love and creativity in her community, passed away peacefully on Nov. 22, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on Oct. 17, 1945, in the same town she would later leave an indelible mark on, Carol Sue’s life was a testament to the power of devotion to family, friends, and the simple joys of life.
Carol Sue was the cherished wife of Frankie Hinton, with whom she shared 41 years of unwavering partnership. Together, they built a family founded on love and mutual respect.
She was a beloved mother to her children: Kelli Cook and husband, Kenneth, Philip Wells, Monica Dixon and husband, Michael. Her role as a grandmother was one she embraced with enthusiasm and grace, leaving a legacy of cherished memories for her grandchildren: Joe Cook and wife, Jennifer, Kaitlin Francis and husband, Lawrence, Cassondra Gilbert and husband, Johnny, Taylor Cook and wife, Winter, Paul Cook and wife, Sarah, and Joshua Dixon and Amanda Dixon. Carol Sue’s joy multiplied with the arrival of her nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.
Carol Sue’s family was the cornerstone of her life. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Clyde and Tempe (Doss) Dellinger, and her siblings: Norvell Dellinger, Arness Dellinger, June Neighbors and Billie Jackson. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her family, and the many friends, nieces, and nephews.
Her friends and family often benefited from her keen eye for interior design, a skill she honed with her favorite finds from local dollar stores. Carol Sue’s talent for transforming spaces was matched only by her willingness to share it, often helping others decorate their homes with the same flair and finesse she brought to her own.
Carol Sue’s love for Hugo was as deep as it was infectious. She was an avid reader and a dedicated member of the library board, playing a pivotal role in the establishment of the town’s new library. Her commitment to the community was evident in her tireless efforts to ensure that the joy of reading and learning was accessible to all.
