A celebration of life for Donnie Cole will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, Okla., with Pastor Steve Cook officiating. Donnie went to be with the Lord on Feb. 3, 2021 Idabel, Okla., at the age of 71.

Donnie Warren Cole was born on Sept. 10, 1949 in Hugo, to Warren and Estelle (Harmon) Cole. Donnie received his Bachelor Degree in Science from Texas A&M in Commerce, Texas. He served 10 years in the United States Army National Guard. Donnie married the love of his life, Joyce Faye Brunner on April 7, 1973 in Messer, Okla. Together they built a wonderful home and raised two sons: Andrew and Aaron. Donnie had a real passion for working with his hands and with wood. He loved spending time outdoors exploring, hunting, fishing, woodworking and hiking. Donnie had an amazing love for nature, always teaching his sons and grandkids something new about the great outdoors. He loved collecting National Geographic Magazine. Donnie worked for Western Farmers Electric Coop for 20 years, the Hugo Housing Authority for five years, and retired from the Grant, Okla., Casino after 13 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Donnie was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. Donnie loved spending time with his family and friends. Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Estelle Cole; one grandson, Klayton Moore of DeQueen, Ark.; father-in-law, Floyd Brunner of Paris, Texas; one very special nephew, Johnny Ray Compton and a brother-in-law, Merle Burleson.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Joyce of 49 years of the home; sons: Andrew Cole and wife, Windee of DeQueen, Ark., and Aaron Cole and wife, Michelle of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren: Ethan Cole, Emerson Cole both of Ft. Worth and Paityn Cole of DeQueen; brothers: Jamie Cole and wife, Tama of Cleveland, Okla., and Bobby Cole and wife, Sandra of Atlanta, Texas; sisters: Connie Burleson of Calera, Okla., and Carolyn Hewitt and husband, Joey of Bartlesville, Okla.; a very special sister and brother in-law: Vicki (Bic) and husband, Ricky Jo Compton of Hugo; and a very special niece, Lindsay Hill of Hugo; his very special mother-in law, Rava Brunner of Paris, Texas; cousin, Paul Ray Lindsey and wife, Stella of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
