Eleanor Jane Weaver “Mimi” passed away Friday, April 4, 2025.

Eleanor Jane Weaver was born Oct. 29, 1946 in Orange, Calif., to Harlan and Lois Coffman. She graduated from Garden Grove High School in California and then moved to Oklahoma. In Oklahoma, she met Dean Weaver and they had six children: Kelly, Holly, Cherry, Barry, Wes and Thomas. As a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, she instilled a love and reverence for God and Jesus in her children. She also taught them the importance of family and remaining close-knit.
She was “Mimi” to her 15 grandchildren: Lexi, Harlan, Al, Allison, Stasia, Ben, London, Sadie, Hartleigh, Tessa, Hans, Olivia, Murphee, Taelyn, Maisie and one great-grandson, Grady Joe.
She was a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University and became an elementary school teacher. After graduating, she began her teaching career in Paris, Texas, at Cecil Everett Elementary.
In 1988, the Weaver Family moved to Fort Worth and Jane would spend the next 25 years teaching in EMSISD at L. A. Gilliland Elementary School. She would have a tremendous influence on the community through her Prairie Project that took learning outdoors and made it come alive. She was recognized at the national level for her efforts with the Prairie Project and came to know and have a friendship with Dr. Jane Goodall. In 2024, EMSISD named a Discovery Lab in her honor and was something that she was very proud of. In retirement, she moved to east Texas and took up the cattle business. She loved the outdoors and remained active until her passing. She would spend time with grandkids and family at “the ranch” and things usually became a covert science lesson on plants, or native grasses. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Lois Coffman; her loving husband, Dean Weaver, and her precious granddaughter, Lexi Barbour.
