Jimmie Lee Farmer
Jimmie Lee Farmer, age 86, passed away on Sept. 6, 2024 in West Plains, Mo. He was born on April 12, 1938 in Boswell, Okla., to Leona Mock Farmer and Jimmie McCoy Farmer.
Jimmie met his wife, Flora June Farmer, in Cotton Valley, La., and were married on Oct. 7, 1958, and would have celebrated 66 years of marriage next month. He worked construction in various places until settling in Bay City, Texas, after accepting a position with Celanese. He retired from Celanese in 1996 after 35 years of employment. He recently moved to Mountain View, Mo., and had a very active and social life. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, practical jokes, cooking and baking. Jimmie was a member of Shepherd’s Table Church in Mountain View, Mo. He was very active in his church and loved attending all the singings.
He is survived by his wife, June Farmer; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Steve VanWambeck; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and David Landry; grandchildren: Stephen VanWambeck, Amy VanWambeck, Crystal Walker, Rachel Formby, Jeremy Cullipher, Jessica Farmer, Sean Landry, Lance Landry, Kera Landry; 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings: Martha Taylor, Chester Farmer and Billie Swallow.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jimmy Neil Farmer; his daughter, Arlene Reece; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024 at Yarber Mortuary in Mountain View, Mo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2024 in Boswell, Okla., at Restland Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com and www.praterlampton. com.
