Lady Buffs’ goals include State Tourney!

Junior Calista Kelley was one of Hugo’s most consistent and confident shooters last season, and her return to the team in the spring will give the Buffs a big boost. But until then, the Buffaloes need to develop more shooters. There’s still some hesitation on offense that Vann hopes to correct before the Buffaloes start their string of tournaments, which begins with the Broken Bow tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Hugo’s season came to an end a week and a half ago, and the Buffaloes have officially entered rebuilding mode. The Buffs are graduating nine seniors in May, many of whom saw significant playing time on both sides of the ball.

FORT TOWSON — The Fort Towson Lady Tigers took the lead last week in a home court double-header by defeating the Lady Wildcats of Coleman, 41-24. The boys followed with a significant 64-40 win over Coleman.

Buffs close season with 27-19 win over Valliant

Hugo News Sports HUGO — The Buffaloes finished out their season with a 27-19 win over Valliant on senior night. Hugo was dominant for a majority of the game, holding the Bulldogs scoreless until the fourth quarter when penalties and onside kicks got the best of the Buffs.

Red Bears split games with Clayton

SOPER — Soper’s Lady Bears posted an impressive come-from-behind win on the home hardwood last week to defeat Clayton 49-48. ShyAnne Wolfe led the Lady Bears with 17 points, but Kirsten Harless was only one bucket behind with 15.

District leader Eufaula defeats Hugo on the road

Hugo News Sports EUFAULA — The Buffaloes played their last regular season away game on Friday night, falling to Eufaula in the first cold weather game of the year. Eufaula is 7-2 overall and undefeated in district play, and on Friday it was easy to see why.
