Greetings! It’s basketball season again. I struggled with finding an appropriate title, but we will see where this one takes us. I’d like to wish my best to both retired and active basketball coaches who read this, as well as parents and fans.

Buffaloes roll out the red carpet... to Festival teams

Hugo News Sports The second annual Hugo Festival wrapped up Saturday evening after two days of nonstop action inside Simon Parker Gymnasium. The festival was started last year by longtime Hugo coach and alumnus Darnell Shanklin, who said his goal was to begin bringing more teams from different areas into Hugo every season and create a festival and environment that everyone would want to be a part of.

Buffalo offense off in 47-33 loss to Warriors

IDABEL — After starting out 2-0, Hugo dropped its first game of the season to the Warriors last week in Idabel. The Buffaloes fell to the Warriors 47-33 in a loss that highlighted the early-season issues Hugo is working through.

IDABEL — The Lady Buffs scored their first win of the season last week at Idabel, beating the Warriors 45-39 in a hard-fought game that showcased Hugo’s improvement. “I was so proud of them, and they were so proud of themselves,” said coach La’Sha Cook.

Coach Brandon Debo led his Soper Red Bears basketball team to two victories and runner up in the Red River Classic Tournament in Thackerville. The Soper Lady Red Bears cruised through the competition to win the Red River Classic Tournament.
