SALINA — The Hugo Buffaloes got off to an outstanding start in the Regional 3A-5 playoffs in Salina Friday, led by Dakota Coulter who had one of those games that baseball players only dream about. Opening against the Morris Eagles Friday in the Regional Tournament at Salina, Coulter drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Buffaloes to a 14-0 slam win over the Eagles.
Contributing Writer After losing an 11-10 nailbiter to Roff , Soper’s Lady Red Bears clawed their way past Buffalo Valley to advance to the Class A State playoffs. Although unconfirmed, this is believed to be the first time the Lady Red Bears have ever been to the State Playoffs twice in one academic year in the school’s 120-year history.
Contributing Writer SOPER — Soper’s softball team went to the State playoffs during the fall fast pitch season. As the District playoffs began, Soper sent a clear message that they expect to go back to State. The Lady Red Bears dominated the Boswell Lady Scorpions with two fast run ruled games by scores of, 12-0 and 11-0.
SHULL-BYWATERS PARK — The Hugo Buffaloes put six pitchers on the mound Monday against the DeQueen Leopards, giving up a modest five hits through five innings of play. But the Buffaloes were almost skunked at the plate, as Dakota Coulter managed the only hit for Hugo against some really good Leopard pitching.
Hugo News Sports The Buffaloes fell to Valliant, 13-8 in a hard fought game on Senior Night last Tuesday. The loss highlighted an issue the Buffs have been working to overcome ahead of the postseason — an inability to play a complete game.
Contributing Writer The last game of the regular season for the Lady Tigers and Lady Scorpions began with smiles, hugs, pictures, and some tears. Then it was time to play ball and each team’s seniors made their impact on the game.
