Easton Gregg sets personal record at Las Vegas shoot

Easton Gregg competed in the Vegas Shoot 2025 on March 5-9. He shot his first 300, which is a perfect score for indoor archery. There were more than 4,000 competitors from more than 70 countries. While there, he officially signed with Lindenwood University’s archery team in St. Charles, Mo., where he will be a freshman in August. Easton is the son of Melissa Gregg and Tim Gregg and currently a senior at Rattan High School.

HUGO — Playing in the twilight game Monday night, the Hugo Buffaloes battled the Ardmore Tigers to an 8-7 extra-inning decision in the Broken Bow Invitational Festival. Except for two unfortunate efforts in the third inning that Ardmore capitalized on to plate six runs, Hugo played a good game and pulled to within one run in the seventh, and battled for three more innings.

Choctaw Stickball season opens

DURANT — A youth game recently kicked off the 2025 Choctaw spring stickball season and more games and tournaments are planned in the coming months. The Choctaw Cultural Center also will offer several different stickball events.

Buffs get season off to 3-2 start

HUGO — The Hugo Buffaloes opened their 2025 baseball season with a strong 3-0 start, posting wins over Atoka and a pair of Ws over Tishomingo. Maliki Gillean, Charlie Ward and Jayka Santillan were tied for batting honors through the first five games all with a respectable .333 batting average.

CHECOTAH — When the Regional Consolation Championship was set, fans from both sides expected a nail biter. Hugo and Valliant were set to meet for the third time in just over a month and the winner would advance to the area tournament, one step closer to a State Championship.

Lady Buffs can’t handle Spiro in Regionals, fall 61-47

CHECOTAH — The Hugo Lady Buffaloes season came to an end Friday afternoon in Checotah in the second round of the Regional Tournament. To get to state, Hugo would have had to win three straight games at Regionals after falling to Valliant in Districts the week prior to be sent into the Consolation bracket. Going into the weekend, the Lady Buffs knew they were in for a challenge, but Coach LaSha Cook reminded her team that winning out was still a possibility, they just had to fight for it.
