Gary Don Beason
Gary Don Beason, born Jan. 1, 1950, passed away in Sherman, Texas, leaving behind a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a spirit that was both adventurous and loving. He was a Christian man whose steady presence, warm heart, and passion for life touched everyone who knew him.
Gary was married to the love of his life, Lois Ann (Gooding) Beason, on Oct. 2, 1976 in Grant, Okla., at Grant Baptist Church. Their marriage was blessed with almost 50 happy years together, built on faith, commitment, and enduring companionship. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a cherished grandfather, and a beloved great-grandfather whose love for his family was evident in all he did.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Ann Beason; his son, Todd Beason; and his daughter, Dena Brown. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Beason; his sister, Carol Bevans; and his brothers: Mickey and Marcus Beason.
Gary spent his life working with dedication and pride. He worked for the Frisco Railroad for 11 years, followed by 25 years as a rock hauler and truck driver. He later retired from Wal-Mart after 13 years of service. During his time with Wal-Mart, he drove one million miles twice and never had an accident, a remarkable accomplishment that reflected his skill, discipline, and careful nature. He was known as a dependable worker and a man who took great pride in doing his job well. Outside of work, Gary enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. He loved classic cars and trucks, and he found joy in mowing and working with chain saws. He also enjoyed shooting skeet and hunting, and he was known as a living road map because of the countless miles he spent driving and seeing new places across the country. After learning to text, he especially enjoyed sharing pictures with others, a small but memorable way he stayed connected and shared his experiences. He was also known as an all-weather grandpa, always present and supportive no matter the circumstances, and his grandchildren knew they could count on his love and encouragement.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Unity Baptist Church in Hugo, under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
